OK, full dislosure: I''m, happily married and don''t use dating apps. But I am someone who studdies people and has worked as a software developer for decades.
And, while there are some great things you can do with software, understanding people emotional baggage, is not one of them.
When you answer questions about what you like or don''t like, that doesn''t tell the softeware why you feel that way. Why don''t you like TV soaps, the color red, or being in tight places? Let''s face it, you may not understand yourself well enough to even know why you feel the way you do.
As an example, finding someone to go to the movies with you may come down to movie preferences, seating preferences, what you like at the concession stand, which theater you like best, what time of day you like to go to the movies, etc.
Then there''s the matter of personal hygiene, how you dress, whether you like to sit up front and the middle or back, etc.
We, as humans, are complicated. We sometimes like or dislike things for reasons even we don''t understand.
Now, given our complexities of personalities, do you really think an app can select your perfect mate by you just answering some questions? It may be able to eliminate some people but it ultimately always comes down to you and your particular emotions about various things.
If we can agree that no software can understand the complexities and the ins and outs of a human''s personality, we should be able to agree that, while some apps may be helpful, they are not the answer as advertised.
Come on, people, these apps exist to make money, period. No one spends the large amount of money it takes to create a great app for free. Would you?
